Jim Heid
Longtime Lizard, Jim Heid is a computer and technology writer, Editorial Director at Avondale Media, and Conference Chair for many Thunder Lizard conferences. Jim’s been a Contributing Editor of Macworld Magazine since 1984, and currently writes about Web design and multimedia-related topics: digital audio and video, streaming media, Flash, authoring programs, and the like. Michael Hollister
Michael Hollister is Vice President of Art and Production and leads a team for the print and Web services at Fawcette Technical Publications. Michael has been working in the publishing business over 19 years with an emphasis in design, production, and manufacturing. Michael Ninness
Michael Ninness grew up in the redwoods of Arcata in Northern California. In 1989 he moved to Seattle to study for a Graphic Design BFA at the University of Washington and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. He paid his way through design school by teaching his fellow design students, his professors, and the professional design and photography community in Seattle how to use the Adobe and Macromedia design applications. His design career took a permanent turn when he accepted a job at Extensis Corp. in 1997 as the group product manager for digital imaging solutions. After initially resisting the job offer, he was challenged by the hiring manager to “come design the products you’d want to use as a designer”. He’s been hooked on creating design software ever since. After Extensis, he spent three years at Adobe as the LiveMotion group product manager, then nearly two years as a program manager and UI designer at Microsoft, designing new tools for professional UI designers. He is the author of Photoshop 7 Power Shortcuts and is a contributor to Photoshop User and Design Graphics magazines, and he dreams in keyboard shortcuts. Peter Truskier
Peter Truskier has over 30 years experience in the graphic arts, and has been working with computer technology in publishing for about 20 of them. David Blatner
David Blatner is the author of thirteen books on topics such as digital imaging, aviation, pi, and virtual reality. Specializing in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and QuarkXPress. Scott Borhauer Scott has been in the printing industry for more than 13 years, starting his career with RR Donnelley & Sons. He came to Brown Printing Company in 2000 where he currently oversees all the PreMedia efforts for Brown Printing as a Corporate Manager. Scott manages the architectural design and integration for BPC’s technology. A frequent speaker at industry events, Scott is a vocal proponent of JDF technology and the automation it provides for our industry. A member of many printing organizations, CIP4, IPA, DDAP, and TAGA, he is always advocating open standards.
Douglas Bowman
Douglas Bowman's highly publicized and hugely successful redesigns of sites like Wired News and Adaptive Path have pushed him to the forefront of standards-compliant web design. Doug's consulting firm, Stopdesign proves that beautiful, easily maintainable design can exist alongside simple, standards-compliant code. Prior to founding Stopdesign, Doug led the creation and implementation of design process and standards for an international network of sites under Terra Lycos and Wired Digital. Steve Broback
Steve co-founded Thunder Lizard Productions, in 1991, which became a subsidiary of Fawcette Technical Publications in 2000. He produced the first conferences dedicated to the software applications Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. He also produced TLP's Web Design World, and Macromedia Web World whose attendees number in the thousands. Greg Gorman
Greg Gorman’s work documents that peculiar obsession of the 20th century celebrity. His photography is timeless and not confined to has-beens, hot properties, and wannabes. Thomas Phinney
Thomas Phinney is involved in the design, technical, historical, and business aspects of type and typography. Thomas has worked with Adobe's type group for seven years, currently as program manager for fonts and core technologies, and has recently relocated to Adobe's Seattle offices. He has a master's degree in typography and design from the Rochester (NY) Institute of Technology, and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
Chad Rolfs Chad Rolfs was born and raised in East Wenatchee, a little town smack dab inthe middle of Washington State. He spent his childhood drawing pictures of dinosaurs and playing with Star Wars figures which eventually led him to a BFA from Berkeley and a secondary degree in multimedia. Chad has been with Adobe Systems in Seattle for the past 5 years working directly on Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. He moonlights at Adobe as a product trainer, teaching Photoshop classes in Seattle and Ottawa. Chad is also a freelance videographer were he combines his Photoshop expertise with his passion for video.
Leonard Rosenthol Leonard Rosenthol, Chief Innovation Officer for Apago, has been involved in the software industry for almost 20 years. For most of the first part of his career, he served as Director of Advanced Technology for Aladdin Systems, developing their StuffIt line of products. Upon leaving Aladdin, he joined Adobe Systems as their "Designated Free Electron.” It was during his time at Adobe that Leonard began his involvement in PDF and electronic publishing. Since Adobe, Leonard has been instrumental is helping to proliferate support of PDF in the software industry through his consulting firm, PDF Sages, and the various seminars and speeches that he presents frequently at industry conferences and local user groups.
Bob Schaffel Bob Schaffel is a senior product manager at Adobe Systems, Inc. He is currently the product manager of Version Cue™, the file version management feature of Adobe® Creative Suite. During his 4 years at Adobe, Bob has been focused on product development related to workflow and collaboration, and was the Adobe product manager involved in the creation of Job Definition Format (JDF). Chuck Sholdt
Chuck Sholdt and Weather Central have been recognized in the newspaper industry as a leader in workflow automation. Steve Jobs, founder and CEO of Apple Computer, used Sholdt’s software at Seybold Seminars in 1999 to demonstrate what can be done using AppleScript technology to automate production processes.
