S. Somasegar, corporate vice president of Microsoft's developer division, introduced during his keynote at VSLive! Orlando on Monday the final member of the Visual Studio 2005 family: the Standard Edition. This edition is targeted at VB6 developers who haven't yet upgraded to .NET. According to Somasegar, the Standard Edition combines the ease of the Express Editions with the power of the Professional Edition. He discussed Microsoft's roadmap for its developer tools.

Also see a demo of a wizard that adds a reference to a COM component and generates an interop wrapper that converts the code to reg-free COM.
