Visual Studio Magazine Announces 2005 Readers Choice Award Winners
Professional Developers Choose Their Favorite Programming Tools
VSLive! Las Vegas, May 10, 2005 – Visual Studio Magazine presented its 13th annual Readers Choice Awards last night during Fawcette Technical Publications' (FTP) VSLive! 2005 Las Vegas conference. These awards, chosen by Visual Studio Magazine's readers, honor excellent software in 22 development categories, in addition to special Editors Choice Awards given to new products deserving particular attention. Patrick Meader, Visual Studio Magazine editor in chief, said, "Third party products represent an invaluable service to the Visual Studio developer community, and save developers almost incalculable amounts of time and money. It is always gratifying to see companies receive the recognition they deserve from the people who matter most: the developers who use their products." These highly coveted awards were announced on Monday, May 9, in Las Vegas at a reception during FTP's VSLive! conference, the largest, independent international conference for Windows developers. Visual Studio Magazine editors presented awards in three categories:
- Readers Choice Awards, given to products that received the most readers' votes
- Readers Choice Merit Awards, given to products receiving a high number of votes that also show real value to Visual Studio Magazine readers
- Editors Choice Awards, given to products that show special merit or innovation but don't fit comfortably into the standard categories
"Our readers, be they application architects, dev managers or senior enterprise developers, know that components and tools are essential to successful projects," said Jeff Hadfield, vice president of publishing. "For fifteen years, FTP has supported and encouraged Visual Basic and Visual Studio components and tools. We look forward to this year's winners and entrants continuing to lead innovation, practicality and dependability in years to come."
