Visual Studio Magazine Announces
2004 Readers Choice Award Winners Professional Developers Choose
Their Favorite Programming Tools
VSLive! SF, March 24, 2004—Visual Studio Magazine presented its annual Readers Choice Awards last night during Fawcette Technical Publications' (FTP) VSLive! 2004 San Francisco conference. These awards, chosen by Visual Studio Magazine's readers, honor excellent software in 23 development categories, in addition to special Editors Choice awards given to new products deserving particular attention. Patrick Meader, Visual Studio Magazine Editor in Chief, said, "The biggest honor in these awards is simply that these are the products our readers say are the best. What better way to show the value in today’s quality components and development tools?"
These highly-coveted awards were issued on Tuesday, March 23, in San Francisco at the gala VIP reception accompanying FTP’s VSLive! Conference (www.vslive.com/sf) the largest, independent international conference for Windows developers—co-located this year with Microsoft ® Mobile DevCon and SpeechTEK. Visual Studio Magazine editors presented awards in three categories:
- Readers Choice Awards, given to products that received the most readers' votes
- Readers Choice Merit Awards, given to products receiving a high number of votes that also show real value to Visual Studio Magazine readers
- Editors Choice Awards, given to products that show special merit or innovation but don’t fit comfortably into the standard categories
“As the development market matures,” said Jeff Hadfield, Vice President, FTP’s Windows Publishing Group. “FTP is in its second decade of supporting and evangelizing the Visual Basic and Visual Studio component market—and we’re excited to see the continued quality and innovation in not only the winners honored tonight but in the entire market.”
