Automating translation of common TRANSFORM and PIVOT clauses to their T-SQL equivalents and generation of SQL Server objects requires a couple thousand lines of VB6 code, but generating crosstab tables on demand and updating them periodically pays off in far better front-end performance and low back-end resource consumption. |
